Panama (+850) vs. United States (-295), DRAW (+425) | 2.5 (-130/+105)
The Stars and Stripes are back in action after cruising to a 2-0 win over Bolivia in their opener. They’ll look to keep things rolling against Panama, who got dropped 3-1 by Uruguay in their first action of the tournament. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. ET from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
Goals have been at a premium this entire tournament, with seven of the 11 matches going under this total of 2.5 goals. This includes the USA’s opener, a 2-0 win over Bolivia. Panama is much more well-rounded than Bolivia, as the teams are ranked 43rd and 84th in the FIFA rankings, respectively. The Canal Men turned in a losing effort in their first game, but three of the four goals came in the 85th minute or later. They were trailing just 1-0 heading into the match’s final five minutes.
Furthermore, these teams just played a competitive match on July 12th, 2023 in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, and Panama advanced on penalties 1-1 (5-4). The match was 0-0 through regulation time.
The United States has looked very sound defensively, allowing just one goal in their three previous competitive matches. I think it’s worth a play with the plus-money payout that comes with the under.
Copa America Bet: Under 2.5 (+105)
Uruguay (-750) vs. Bolivia (+1800), DRAW (+800) | 3.5 (+105/-135)
Uruguay got off to a fantastic start in the Copa America tournament, defeating Panama in a 3-1 contest. Their next task is Bolivia, who comes with an insane 18/1 price just to win this match. This Group C clash is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. ET from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA.
I don’t love giving out picks with this much juice, but I truly think it’s the best way to approach this match. I’m taking Uruguay to win to nil at -180. The total is sitting at 3.5, and I think the only way the final score gets that high is if Uruguay supplies all four goals, which could happen, or they could settle in for a 2-0 or 3-0 win. That’s why I’m also hesitant to lay 2.5 goals with Uruguay because I’m just not sure how many goals the Sky Blue will win by.
With all of that being said, there’s one constant to this whole match, and it’s that Bolivia’s offense is horrendous. They got blanked 2-0 by the United States in their opener, registering 0.2 expected goals (xG). Bolivia is now 0-0-4 in its last four matches across all competitions, getting out-scored 9-1! They’ll take on a Uruguay side that posted an expected goals against (xGA) mark of just 0.6 against Panama. I think Uruguay keeps a clean sheet en route to a second straight win.
Copa America Bet: Uruguay Win to Zero (-180)
